The last photo was of a Pyramid. I hope to bring you some more Rubik Snake shapes soon.

Another puzzle cube from my collection

5x5x5 Puzzle Cube

My daughter brought me this for Christmas a few years ago, she scrambled the cube before she wrapped it. I spend all Christmas trying to solve it. This is a very difficult cube to solve.

I was going to say a pyramid, but it seemed pointless! (Sorry.... I’ll grab my coat on the way out ;) )

I love your daughter’s sense of humour!
Cheers

I'm going to introduce you to a different type of puzzle cube

Gear Cube (white)

The blocks are geared and meshed together, it doesn't move like a normal cube, but because the blocks are meshed together by cogs, the centre edge blocks rotate as you turn the cube. A different method compared to your standard cube is required to solve the puzzle. Not only do you need to solve the colours, but you also need to rotate all the pieces so they sit flat as oppose to turned out of line.

These can be challenging.

Gear Ball

Even tough it's the same to solve as the gear cube, this is more tricky as you got no edges or corners to grip and it very easy to lose your bearings with this one

Losing your bearings could be a real bind! (Sorry, geeky engineering dad joke!)

Gear Barrel

As with all barrel puzzles, they are shapeshifters, this one is similar to the gear cube to solve

Gear Pyraminx

This one might look easier than the other gear puzzles to solve, but actually this is the most difficult one of the gear puzzles in my collection to solve

Gear Shift

This is a 2x2 gear puzzle

ImageIMG_3816 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

It might look simple, but it has an additional feature. You can half pull it apart so that four of the gears disengage which allows you to independently mix them up. You can disengage the gears in 3 different dimensions by pulling the cube either top/bottom, front/back, left/right. You can only half pull the cube apart in any direction one at a time, so you have to push the two half's back together again before you can half pull the cube apart in one of the other directions.

Getting the colours to match is the each part, but because the gears are different sizes/ratios, getting the puzzle to line up on the edges to form a perfect cube shape is the hardest part of the puzzle

Currently this is the last of my cubes in my collection, I have over 130 cubes, but don't worry, I've more on the way as I order a new one a week. I will post them as I receive them. They will be like busses, I may be waiting weeks for them to turn up and then they will suddenly all turn up at once
