We were looking round a flat that had been converted from an old Victorian building. Loads of character, but needs a little bit of work here and there. Mainly decorating, nothing too serious. Anyway, I'd noticed that one of the bedroom doors didn't latch properly, so I went to try the other bedroom, that all three of us were in. Bit stiff to close, so I gave it a shove, and it shut, under protest, and latched securely.
Anybody want to guess what happened next ?
I looked at the door handle...................... or at least, where the door handle should have been.............. and said a fairly rude word !
All three of us, stuck in the bedroom, nobody else in the building, no door handle, and no screwdriver between us ! Bit of a poser ! Needless to say, there estate agent only had one set of keys, which were on the kitchen table.
To cut a long story short, I managed to lever a card into the latch to release that, and the estate agent luckily had a mortice key which he could just jam in the key hole and get enough purchase to pull the door open.
I'm sure there must be a moral to this story, but I just can't think of a good one.
Cheers
