Don't be caught out by fakes

Postby casper » Sun Dec 01, 2019 12:10 pm

I was quietly reading while my better half was watching TV last night and could tell something was bothering her, I carried on reading waiting for her to ask me something  After a few minutes of awkward silence she said " I think I have done something wrong" OK now she's got my attention :? What have you done now I said :|
A pressent I got you for Christmas arrived and its not what I thought and Its rubbish so I'm going to send it back  Oh its ok I said as long as can get a refund or change it.
"I will go and get it and show you then you can return it for me" she said.
Apparently my son heard what she said when opening the package and it was colourful :laughing-rolling: :text-blondmoment:
this is what she gave me, what can it be
more pics later ;) Mark

Military bust, but no idea who.
No packaging or instructions. Looks like a knockoff.
Cheers

I thought that myself Mark till you look closer but I thought Miniatures came in a pictorial box but not having worked a bust before I don't know. Shane got it off an ebay seller for £20 through my daughters account so will take a look. I was expecting it to be bad quality and maybe a print but to my surprise the first part out looked amazing :o
The detail on this is incredible, it could be a copy but if it is they did a fine job but as I said I've never had one before. I won't say what bust it is but you are correct with military Mark.
Next pic soon :)

I had another look over the parts and even though the parts look excellent there are a couple of things you just wouldn't see I suppose on a quality bust like flash, this one looks pretty good apart from the bullets, the detail is ok but lots of flash.

Most of the miniatures I’ve got come from Nuts Planet or Mirico. Their quality looks better, but their price is higher.

Mirico (https://www.mirico.sg/) is actually closing down because too many people are selling fake copies. Really sad as the sculptures are amazing, both quality and pose.

Most of the ones I’ve seen come with some sort of proper packaging, even if it’s only a sticky label on a box.
Cheers

I would say the German Waffen SS Ardennes 1944 should have a cigarette in his mouth.

The figure

http://www.young-miniatures.com/product ... 1804-1.htm

Hi Ian
Yes thats the Bust by Young Miniatures but as you will see from the following photos the one I have is a Fake.
It came without the usual pictorial box. The seller who I won't name here has been reported to e-bay and the thread has now been locked.
I don't agree with fakers and would not build or paint one on the forum. The Artists work so hard to produce some fantastic work and to steel it is bad news,
my Son and I got caught out this time but it only cost him £20, even the price makes you think its to good to be true.
please check the seller and product guys before you buy :D
Thanks to Mark for his help on this and the link to the actual figure ;) :)
