Jerry's 2nd McLaren

Postby kryten2b » Fri Sep 02, 2011 1:37 pm

Hi, I tried to do this one when De-Ag started & then cancelled this model a couple of years ago - i hope it goes full term this time :x

I have been doing this one for a while now, so thought i would start with a brief catch-up of parts 1-18 ;)
After that I'll post more regularly

Hi Jerry,
Firstly great you've also started this build diary as well :)

Whilst I'm not doing this model, I think that they've said it can be built as is, or modded.

What are your views/comments on that?

I have seem some beautiful mod work being done with carbon decals over on the official De-Ag forum, but so far i have kept mine pretty standard.

I have to say, the detail on the model is pretty good - so not had the 'need' so far - but that may change, depends how detailed the engine is :D

Hi Jerry,
I think that Julian has done the same as you with the Mclaren, yet Julian will normally mod things if he doesn't think that they are right, so I think that you are in very good company here ! :D

Part 19:

Just a case of inserting the centre rotor pin & attaching the faceplate to the rear upright- no extra limbs required this time

Part 20:

Apologies this is turning up at the same time as 19 - just didn't have time to upload the pictures before now.
Just a bit of carefully applied SG & a bearing - tricky :o

Thanks Julian - I received 21-24 in the week. I just have to try & restrain myself & only do 1 a week, otherwise I'll end up with nothing to do for 3 weeks

I see you have completed up to 24 - looking good :D I assume you are not planning any engine mods then?

Perhaps I should have started with this rather than the DB5 ......

Part 21 & 22 The Engine:

I decided to combine 21 & 22 into one post As they are all part of the engine. Just needed to be careful to glue the parts to the engine block, not fingers & as always, lubricate screws with Vaseline before use :laughing-rolling:
