Best glue for joining resin to styrene

Postby Gundog » Sun Oct 05, 2014 1:46 pm

Hi all, just started back on the Mossie. Took the big brave step of sawing off the front 3 inches of the fuselage, which are replaced by resin parts. What glue works best for joining resin to the original kit plastic?

I'd use Super Glue. That's as good as any for most resin parts.
Cheers

as contrary to the big boss i'd suggest using two-pack resin glue,
I've been using this for more than 20 years when building resin models and can say:
it has a "working" time of around 2 minutes,
you can use this time to align parts,
it'll cure completely without using any pressure - might be important with thin or fragile pieces,
it can fill smaller gaps and is also a bit more flexible than :superlglue:

My choice of super glue is Loctite Power Flex, it's a thicker glue and contains some rubber to allow for a bit of flex, for epoxy glue I use good old Araldite

Superglue should work fine but have you heard of CA glue? Tried that before and it work rather good maybe you could try. Hope it helps
