The easy way to bend a wood strip

Postby Mustang » Sat May 23, 2015 11:14 am

Ok so I've seen a lot of people bending strips in different ways.

But for myself this is a very very easy way to bend a strip of wood.

So all you'll need is a very simple and easy item to get and cheep to buy. ;)

So first up the strip of wood, this was leftover from the Bismarck hull build.

And the simple piece of equipment is a

And this is what you can then do.

Simple and easy. The strips can still be placed on the model and pined as the pins go in the strips easy.

I also used this when I did the stern of my Titanic, the strips just bent around the stern and once dried it could be glued in one piece.

Hi Mustang

I'm just about to start this build but it's the first ship build for me, i'm worried about the planking more than anything so was considering your idea if it will help me, i just wanted to ask, how long do the strips take to harden once out of the steamer? And how many strips would you do at the same time?
So basically you steam them, bend them into position but glue them all after they are together, on the top?

Thanks for any help and advice!
