I was going to start on my Ferris wheel that Jess got me for Christmas

ImageSAM_6178 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

I didn't get far as I wanted to illuminate the ride and I needed to fit the appropriate electrics for it at the start of the build. The electric bulb kits for these are an optional extra, so I've now got these on order. So I will return back to this one soon

So I turned my attention to the other kit that Jess got for me for my Birthday last year. Its a sweets and balloon booth

My Ferris wheel lights arrived so I could continue with that.

The wheel was wired up and then fitted together

Getting there

Now my attention turns to the gondolas

All the gondolas now finished

ImageSAM_6322 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

The pay booth now finished and there was no provisions to illuminate it, so I drilled a hole in the base and fitted a plastic tubing to accommodate a bulb and it's wire

ImageSAM_6325 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

I didn't glue the roof to the pay booth in order to service the bulb at a later date.

Ferris Wheel now finished

ImageSAM_6326 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

All the gondolas are illuminated too, model now stored away waiting for me to build a display case and diorama.

Very impressive Roy. Does the wheel rotate (slip rings for the power?) or is it static.

The wheel does rotate as seen in the above video. The motor is housed in a little booth sat behind the wheel. The motor has a rubber drive wheel attached to it which the big wheel sits on.

ImageUntitled 5 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

The axle of the wheel are metal. These are electrified. There is what looks like fuse wire going from the axles to metal rivets that are attached to the main wheel.

ImageUntitled 1 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

The gondolas have metal pins which are used to attache to the main wheel, both of which allows the gondolas to swivel as well as electrify the lights in each of the gondolas.

Very ingenious way of getting power to the moving parts. Those kits have always fascinated me, but I've never built one.

Some of the working with some of the models are very ingenious how they work. They are pricey models, can be tedious to build and some of them takes some tweaking to get them to work, but they are worth it :D

Back to the sweet and balloon booths.

Sawdust was put in the popcorn case to represent popcorn. Pink cotton wool was use to represent candy floss. Also the sweet display cases were glued to the counter top.

ImageSAM_6738 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

The heart shape candy was added along with other details

ImageSAM_6761 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

This booth now finished

ImageSAM_6760 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

ImageSAM_6759 by Roy Lee, on Flickr

Also the balloon booth and clown seller came with this kit. The basket and balloons had to be made up and glued together.

Today I finally found some time to build a Faller kit that my wife got me for last Xmas.

Mause Stadt which translate to Mouse City

The Box

The contents

ImageIMG_2434 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

Started to build it

ImageIMG_2435 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_2437 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_2438 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

getting there

ImageIMG_2439 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

Now the lorry part of the attraction

ImageIMG_2441 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_2445 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

The finished build

ImageIMG_2446 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_2447 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

So what fairground attraction is it?

I googled it and it is a real attraction. But it's not what I thought it was, no not a fun house

Its what is say's on the tin as so to speak, the guest pay to see a whole load of live mice living inside behind a glass.

Today I made a start on the Carousel Bar

ImageIMG_3047 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

The base being made up and adding the decor

ImageIMG_3048 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3049 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

Adding the bottles, glass ash trays and glass drinking tankers

ImageIMG_3050 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

No to build the roof

ImageIMG_3051 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

Adding the lighting strips to the underside of the roof, these don't really light up

ImageIMG_3052 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

Adding the decor to the edge of the roof

ImageIMG_3054 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

The rest of the roof canopy edging took a good couple of hours to complete

ImageIMG_3063 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3064 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

Adding the support pillars, the drinks price list board and advertising boards to the underside of the roof.

ImageIMG_3065 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

The roof glued in place and the canopy cones are just placed on top without gluing to allow lighting to be fitted.

Thanks Morris

Today I manage to finish off the carousel bar

The bar stools and tables need to be made up. I had to marry up these fiddly tiny pieces

ImageIMG_3109 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3110 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

There were 18 of these in total

and 4 tables

ImageIMG_3113 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3112 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3108 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

This particular kit is now finished, I will add people when I add this to a diorama at a later date

ImageIMG_3114 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3115 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

I've another Faller fairground booth diary coming soon
