just for size comparison now that the engine is 10 millimeters higher than before...
should be all very straight forward job now with the build btw -
ooooohhhm wish I wouldn't say such things, it's always drama and work when I say such things
need to work on the v12 now as this one is getting along.......................................

I'm sure you'll find something else to Chop Aston's :)

for once I'm not replying on someone's thread but here -
a pretty funny feeling have to say

I figured most of the work that needs to be done in order to assemble the body prior to painting AND prior to making the interior -
it's a lousy job but I'm not complaining, just a kind of project management or you get stuck...

as I've cut out the hatch I have another access port for the internals, also the rear end needs to be beefed up,
I'm very unhappy about the weak point of the kit - the join line where the rear and front internals come together,
so this'll be fixed as well - and while working there, also including the rear suspension that will be made including working springs,
after all, I'm into building also a roadster (maybe a second V12 TWR racing) and that needs to take the load without the help of the roof...
and without the typical sagging doors of all roadsters...

Hi astons :)
are you going to strengthen the joints with extra styrene.
I noticed with mine that the panels have a slight twist and you have to apply a lot of pressure to bring them in line. hopefully it will be ok when glued to the firewall.
I read somewhere that the roadster was heavier than the coupe because of all the extra bulk for strength even with no roof.

most roadsters are heavier, yes...
I will deffo make some extra "panels" at the back axle to aid the structure,
it's a joke how the inner pan and the boot bottom join -
you could even be able to look through the gap
it would have been only one clever plastic part that would have solved the trouble, revellogram didn't do that,
instead changed the rear axle and the bonnet hinge retainers - product development, haha...

I even thought of screwing the (original) panels together and to a back plate -
the join lines need to be polyestered anyhow so that would hide the screw heads...

great idea screwing the panels together astons, i think it's to late for me to make such changes and far beond my skills. i could put in some more contact points using styrene maybe this would help. I notice the join on mine is not too bad. A little gap but as it has a slight twist and that puts stress on the join.

have started making the missing undertray part at the front of the rear axle -
should do a pattern for future models (and interested parties ;) ),
hope it'll beef up the body and also help supporting the roadster...

as I am doing new engine mounts (getting rid of the 4 ugly sticks poking out of the engine sides),
this will allow for making the front space frame before painting the body,
so all will be done in one big sweep...
worked out how to insert the finished internals AFTER the body has been assembled and painted -
now it just needs to work out according to my plans
as you'd imagine it'll be (again  ) a nice chop job...

Hi Aston's,

what is your current plan for beefing up the body, especially re: the roadster?

the part I'm currently making should be what I need to "repair" the coupe and keep the roadster straight...

:D this is why I am trying to work things out paul,
so you just need to copy/paste after I sorted the mess here -
still not finished yet, lots of work before xmas in the job and at home, little time for modelling/taking piccies -
BUT still it's coming along nicely, hope to be able to finish soon -
it's a bit of what casp has done, just on a bigger scale ;)
