Been doing some more work on the E Type! Fitted carpets on car floor and tan leather to sides and center console of cabin area! Converted to right hand drive and fitted dials and switches to dashboard similar to what I did to the Aston Martin! I think it looks ok! Also dials and lights will be lite from behind! Had some real luck! The spare (broken rim) Aston Martin steering wheel can be used for the Jag with conversion which means the horn will work when I fit the electronics! Yippy! Cabin is yet to be finished! Seats as yet to be covered with the leather! Its actualy thin shammy leather used for cleaning cars! Its expensive but really works and is very stretchy and pliable!

Close up showing center console! Not to happy with the chrome finish! Might change it! Also checking real E Types. They all have glove box in center! Will have to put that right!

I'm sure you'll find the glove cubby is in front of the passenger. It's the ash tray and radio in the centre. :?

That picture is of a late series 2 or V12 series 3.

The series 1 - which is what the Revell kit is based on - had no central glove box.
It was all flat Ally.
You can also tell by the seats.
Series 1 seats weren't like those in any way.

Roy.

Ah right, no I'm not confused, in England we call that the armrest. The glovebox is in the dashboard. :D Maybe it's a translation thing!

Boy this debate is getting a bit heated! If I am building an earlier model as depicted by the Revell kit does this mean that fitting light tan leather seats is incorrect? If I fit a center "arm rest" as I would like to, is this also wrong? If rebuilding a real E Type would they fit one or not! I know that I would like to be as accurate as possible but this is getting silly! I know you are all trying to be as helpful as you can and I much appreciated the information on the colour of the engine, but will it really make a difference if I fitted a center box or not! Please don't think Im having a go at any of you and I certainly don't want any of you to stop giving me any more advice but Im getting a bit confused as to what is fitted to an early E Type! The problem is that most of you admit that the Revell kit is inacurate but Im not sure which bits are and which bits are not! Perhaps some of you can help me through this build by putting me right as you have done above! I am thinking of painting the main body racing green but were any models ever painted this colour? Most of the photos of real E Types Ive seen are rebuilds so are they accurate or have liberties been taken during the building of these cars? If anyone can help me get over this confusion it would be most appreciated. JOHN!

At the end of the day, it's your E Type, and it can be whatever you want.

With regards the 'accuracy' bit, the Revell kit is pretty correct overall for a series 1 car.
Yes, bits are missing, not quite the right shape etc, but generally, it is 'right' inasmuch as what the car was fitted with, and how it looked.
The arm rest wasn't fitted, but there's no reason why you can't have one.
And yes - E Types were BRG.
One of the very first show cars was a green coupe so you could be building that one.....

oh, the fire is almost out so there's another bit of wood

john if you owned a series 1 and had her restored the company would do whatever you liked to please you - suppose even an armrest...
many early car owners have asked for the removal of the alloy between the seats and replaced it by leather -
same applies to the paintwork - anything goes as long as you want to have it -

a nice story for you -
the aston martin db4 proototype (known as DP114 or the "walls ice cream van" for it's first white/blue paintwork), has been raced by a subsequent owner in a somewhat striking yellow with a blue stripe - before she got restored to almond green - so even with originals, it's "anything goes"

if you asked, please guys what was correct for a series 1, we can probably jump in, otherwise it's your car and your taste...

Hi Baby-astons! As much as its true that I can have the E Type any way I like I would also like to keep it as near to the original as possible! Any help from anyone is welcome and if they think Im straying a bit to much from the original I would rather they say! :o Im only copying from photos of real E Types taken from the internet but Im not sure which series they are!

john, you might want to visit here: http://forum.etypeuk.com/
many pictures on the net are of cars which were "restored" and have many faults (a common issue with most classics),
so i'd suggest you see a dedicated forum like the link above, there are a lot of informations - and valuable -
and millennia better than a simple auntie google search for jaguar e-type...
