What is the right size acorn nut for the XK motor head?

Postby johncarey1963jag » Tue Nov 10, 2015 5:01 am

Those of you who have built the Revell/Monogram E-Types - did any one replace the head nuts with metal acorn nuts? If so what size would be the right proportion? I see 1.0 MM, 1.4mm , 1.6 mm qand 2.0 mm on the Scale Hardware web site but I cannot measure them accurately enough.

Hi John
I painted the nuts that were on the head but used 1mm brass acorn nuts for the exhaust manifolds, not sure if the scale was correct but they looked pretty good.

Thanks Casper. If the 1mm was close to the exhaust nut size, then the head acorn nuts will be larger than that. The measurement I get is @ 3mm across the flats, but that looks too big to me, so maybe I'll order the 1.6 and the 2.0 sizes.
thanks for the reply,
John
