Cunningham lightweight roadster

Postby Roymattblack » Wed Jan 27, 2016 8:35 pm

Once again, sorry for not posting much earlier.

The base kit here is the Revell beastie although it's occurred to me that really all I'm using is the floor pan, part of the interior floor, bonnet and a few other bits.
Everything else is 'scratch' including much of the engine, all the front frame, roadster rear, interior, roadster hardtop, wheels, tyres..... and more.
I'm also intending to make the model as the car looks now, as I have access to the car for reference.

A fun project.
We'll see how it pans out.

Roy.

Thanks you guys.

I've built up the front engine frame - 90% of it is missing from the kit, and what actually provided is pretty much wrong anyway so I scratched the whole thing from brass section.
Even the way the feeble kit frame mounts to the bulkhead is wrong, so the firewall and pedal box areas were also cut and rebuilt so the frame mounts as it should.

Body now pretty much done and painted. I'm not going to 2k the finish as a 60's car wasn't as glossy as modern stuff, and I'm happy with the paint finish as it is.
Halfords Jaguar off-white, custom mixed.

Loads more trim etc to do on the interior, then it will be the front end...

Roy.

Apologies for the complete lack of updates...

The E Type is almost complete now.
Far too much to write, but a picture says a 1000 words as they say.
Hope you like my beastie...

Roy.
