The Rules

Postby Mark » Wed Nov 24, 2010 11:26 pm

As previously announced, I'm running a small competition over the Christmas Holiday.

The aim is to build an Airfix series 1 kit, and post a build diary.

The rules are
1. The kits must be an Airfix series 1 model (past or present, land, sea or air). Current list price for these is £4.99 according to the Airfix web site. They can be identified by the box code which starts A01... E.g. A01001 is the 1/72 scale Spitfire.
2. No aftermarket accessories can be used. E.g. No brass etched detail sets, resin details sets or decal sets. The idea is to keep the competition as cheap as possible.
3. You can add extra details using common items such as wire, plasticard, wood, etc.
4. Judging will be by a vote on the forum
5. You must post a build diary, which can be brief (but we like reading build diaries - hint hint ;) ) but should contain a photo of the parts laid out, a few construction shots, and a shot of the finished model (how else can we judge it :P ). Build diaries must be posted in this section.
6. Models must be presented for voting by the 16th Jan.
7. My decision is final, and anybody who argues will be publicly humiliated, shot at dawn, and then chopped up for penguin food.
8. If there are sufficient entries I may stump up a small prize for the winner.
9. You can enter more than one model if you wish.
10. One thread per build diary, and only one build diary per thread.

All entrants will get Karma points. The winner will get even more Karma points, and may get a small prize.

My entry is an honorary entry. Well, I couldn't really enter my own competition, could I ?
Cheers

And only paint brushes are allowed - not parts of animals to apply the paint.

You can use anything you like to paint it - as long as I don't get hauled up by the RSPCA

Paint brush, air brush, badger brush, tooth brush, loo brush....... You can even use Basil Brush (as long as the Beeb aren't watching ;))

Argos are currently doing 25% off their airfix kits at the moment, so their £5 ones are now £3.74 - an idea if anyone wants to get them...

Damn ! I got mine from Argos a few days ago :x Good find though.

That Tiger(cub) looks like a good bet. Aircraft are equally welcome of course.

A quick amendment to the rules, after watching James May's Top Toys, I'll award bonus points for a prominent glue thumb print on your model

Very nice idea you've got here, Mark. I love it.

I'd like to make just one little remark about the rules you set:
Point #7 says: "My decision is final, and anybody who argues will be publicly humiliated, shot at dawn, and then chopped up for penguin food."

Could the firing squad do the job sometime in the afternoon? Whatever the side of the gun I'll be on. I'm not an early bird.

:D

How's everybody doing ? Are you nearly finished, or should I extend the competition by a week or 2 ?

Right, it's official, I've extended the deadline to the 30th Jan, since there are only 2 finished entries so far.
