I hope this one isn't burried somewhere in the past 21 pages...

frankfurt tower personnell are apparently well known for their impatient and somewhat unfriendly manner when dealing with pilots, one day the following conversation occured:

BA 747 (Speedbird 206): "Good morning Frankfurt, Speedbird 206 clear to active."
Ground: "Good Morning. Taxi to your gate."
The British Airways 747 pulls onto the main taxiway and stops.
Ground: "Speedbird, do you know where you are going?
Speedbird 206: "Stand by, ground. I'm looking up the gate location now."
Ground (impatiently): "Speedbird 206, have you never flown to Frankfurt before?"
Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, in 1944. But I didn't stop......"

wellwell, you get what you were asking for...

And an apparently true story follows:
Lufthansa introduced 747's to their London-Hamburg service. A German businessman was sat next to a Brit and was rabbiting on about how wonderful it was, eventually saying, "Amazing, yes? Only 3 and a half hours to Hamburg!" In the pause that followed, the Brit said, "Very true, it used to take us 8 hours in a Halifax....."
Not sure about the timings...
