Zoooom!

Liz's P40 still has working guns, and for the occasion one was loaded with blanks and we were treated to a live firing display - spine tingling:

Note the smoke puffs and spent caings trailing away behind:

A bit of drama, when one undercarriage leg got stuck, but thankfully resolved and safe landing followed.
However Murphy struck the next day when the Harvard owned by Liz and her husband suffered the indignity of a gear collapse on landing.

Air Chatham's were offering rides in ZK-AWP "Powhaitere", the last still flying in NZ ex-RNZAF C-47, last flying National Airways Corporation DC-3 and last flying topdressing DC-3 and still in service on scheduled services! You can read her history here: http://www.airchathams.co.nz/uploads/pdf/History-of-ZK-AWP.pdf
Yes we used DC-3's for cropdusting!

Since they went to all this trouble to bring her over, I thought it would be rude to not go for a ride :D
