Hi and thanks for the interest in my build :)
The work is still in progress, but unfortunately I have had to direct attention to my house over the last year (big gum tree fallen over in storm, urgent repair jobs and complete painting inside/outside, etc, etc)
Over the last month or so I have again worked full time on the Prinz, mounting facials on the decks, finishing all the platforms, and construced the section with the catapult rail for the Arado.
This means that practically the whole superstructure now is complete :P - which ONLY leaves all the fences, armament, boats, Arados, rangefinders and deck fittings to be completed.
I am still only half way although I have made over 5,200 parts so far.

However, I am having some problems with Photobucket which at the moment is very slow and times out before my log-in can be effectuated, so it's impossible for me to upload pictures at the moment. :angry-banghead:
As soon as my Photobucket problems are solved the pictures and descriptions will come - have faith (at least I think I do)
Cheers .... Poul

Don't get me started on photobucket, been very slow recently, it's all those adds and pop ups :angry-banghead:

Within the last 12 months I have purchased a faster laptop, but I still find photobucket very slow. I don't know what device you are working from, if using a laptop/computer, I would run a disc clean up, de-fragment, scan for viruses and clean up your browser history all of which may help speed things up. If using a tablet/smart phone, then you might find downloading the photobucket app will run quicker.

I too looking forward to your updates.

Finally my Photobucket seems to work :o so here are some updates with pictures:

Tower platforms with timber decking

and seen from underneath

The support platforms for the night rangefinders (placed on the front superstructure) seen here together with the revolving catapult assembly (the catapult is still to come).
The catapult rail was a bit of a nightmare to construct as a 3-sided u-profile from only 0.25mm thick polystyrene sheet - breath too heavily and the rail falls apart
Succeeded at the third attempt though :D
Also shown is one of the two swing-out wings at the top front of the superstructure

Earlier I finished the main mast on the signals platform where the search light platform also had to fit in (an advanced puzzle in 3D)

That'll be all for this time
Now I "just" have to construct the night rangefinders, the domes for the large rangefinders, all the fences and the top of the hangar to completely finish the superstructure.

I like cats. I've had cats myself previously.
BUT
I don't like the cats telling me my "Photo not found" - and definitely not when the cats come from Photobucket :angry-banghead:

I think you can now guess what I've been spending my time doing over the last few days;
CORRECT ... retrieving all my photos from Photobucket (with success I may add) - and dropped my membership

So, not much time spent on the Prinz since I also have a couple of major projects running on my house; Window replacements, retro insulation etc.

A little bit has been achieved though, so let's see if I can figure out how to show the picture of some of the boat racks on the Prinz
(Sorry forgot the matchstick)

Success

This seems to be the way to do it :D

It has been a while since my last post.
The work on Prinz Eugen is still ongoing, but at a slow pace over the past two years.
A count now shows just over 6,000 parts produced and there is still a long way to go.
I can see that something has happened to the pic I previously uploaded, so I have reloaded it (hopefully it worked).
I'll try to upload a pic here of my 40mm Bofors AA prototype (hope this works too)

I have had to replace my camera lately and should be able to show some nice pics soon.
More updates to follow.
Cheers .... Poul

Hi Poul, good to see you again. I’m afraid My hosting company threw an almighty spanner in the works, and I never did manage to recover the photos. Your work is as stunning as ever.
Cheers

It took me roughly an hour to find the old pics and update the thread, so all should be fine now :)

All 18 of the 40mm Bofors AA are finished, and I have made a prototype of the 20mm Vierling AA (there are 6 of them on the Prinz).

Fantastic build poul.
Shame about previous photo bucket photos, I would imagine PB lost a huge amount of members after the 1000 photo rule came in.
looking forward to your next posts.

I have finally finished the work on my house (all single pane glass replaced by double glazing and some complete windows and and sliding doors replaced), so in these covid-19 times I can now use a good chunk of time to work on the Prinz.
After finishing the four torpedo launchers

I have now begun work on the boats using vacu-forming - which I also used to make the housing on the torpedo launchers.
The cranes and the racks for the life boats are also finished

At the moment I am waiting for some casting and moulding materials needed for the boat construction to arrive by mail.

As my build stands now, my count is 960 items constructed, made from 7245 individual parts.

I hope to be able to post some more photos within a couple of weeks.
Cheers .... Poul

Thanks for your kind encouragement :)

I have started on the ship's boats.
The two launch boats are finished (flagstaff and jack-staff to be attached at the very end because of fragility). The 0.2mm forward rails were a nightmare.

I am now working on the Admiral's motor boat and the two long boats.

A bit of progress, but now I remember why I left the boats 'till the end part of the build.
The parts are getting smaller all the time
