2x2x2 Crazy Ball

Not only is this a 2x2x2 puzzle, but the centres rotates giving it another dimension

Magic Rainbow Ball

This one don't twist, it has holes in the side of the ball with smaller balls of different colours half poking out. There is one hole without a ball, to mix it up, you push an adjacent ball to the empty hole and the ball moves to the empty hole. Each hole has a different colour rim, the idea is to arrange all the different colour balls in the correspondence holes.

My, you’ve got colourful balls!

This one sounds quite easy, or is there more to it than meets the eye?

Now for a Tricky one

Disney Micky Mouse/Donald Duck Ball, this is a skewb puzzle, I've yet to post the cube equivalent, a very tricky puzzle to do. I purchased this second hand, it was in very poor condition and came scrambled. I had to restore this cube as it had a some of it paint missing. Nothing a good sharpie pen can't solve

Rubik Snake (24)

A toy from the 80's, not so much a puzzle but more of a toy where you can make different shapes from it.

It' comes in the shape of a ball

ImageIMG_3480 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

I'm going to make different shapes out of it and post them on the end of a few of the post on here, can you guess what they are?

Today is a simple one

Well done if you guess that the last photo was a Dog

Today puzzle is similar to the last one, except for instead of a square edge, it has a rounded edge.

The last photo was in the shape of a cobra snake, did you guess it?

Rubik's Link The Rings

Another Puzzle from the 80's, this one is hinged in a funny way, a bit like the Jacobs ladder toy. The idea is to link the rings

ImageIMG_3494 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3495 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

It is hinged using fishing wire which allows each section to hinge in funny ways. So you can also make various shapes from it

ImageIMG_3497 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

ImageIMG_3498 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

and finally, can you guess today's shape?

The above post were all consecutive in order to replace the missing post that mysteriously disappeared into the vortex ;)

The shape in the last photo is a rocket, did you guess it?

Back to today's puzzle,

Rubik's Revolution

This is not a puzzle, but an electronic game that was first introduced in 2008. It features 6 different games. The centre cube lights up and also acts as a button. More details on this and what each game entails can be found here

No not Soup ladle, the previous pic was of a Swan

One of the revolution game reminds me of the old electronic game Simon, I believe that the Rubik revolution game has been relaunched this year.

Going back to the Disney ball posted on here a week ago, the Disney ball is a Skewb cube, here is what a Skewb cube looks like

Double Skewb,

ImageIMG_3542 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

This is not just a Skewb, but it's a Double Skewb. A normal Skewb is the same as pictured above, except that it has solid centres. If you notice in the photos, the centres have a hole in the middle displaying a matching colour, as you scramble the cube, the centre centres colours also scramble too. The next photo shows the blue centre has a mismatched yellow centre.

ImageIMG_3545 by Jess Lee, on Flickr

When I first solved this cube, all the centre centres miss matched. It took me a while to work out how to solve the centre centres. What makes it more difficult, is that each centre centres moves in different way depending on which axis you turn. So for example if you follow a certain algorithm with the blue side facing you, and then repeated the same algorithm with the red side facing towards you, the movement of the centre centres will move in a completely different manner. So I had to work our the movement of the centre centres for all six sides when each side is facing me.

I only got the Double Skewb this week.

Can you guess today Rubik Snake shape?

What's the quality of the Smiggle cube like? Laura used to like their stuff, and it was mostly very short lived, poor quality. A case of looks over substance! Fortunately she's outgrown the brand now!
